So a LOT has happened since last month! Let's get right to it Caenyrites!
Let's begin with some roleplaying updates. The serverwide quest is complete and it ended with an extremely fun in-game event! While Chaos is battled across the land, a few intrepid heroes set forth to destroy the Kaimelcoia and set the world back to normal. After finding Arynaesis and stealing the book back from her, they write words in the book for it to self-destruct. After which, Arynaesis and all her (and the book's) creations disappear, leaving the land in peace once again.
Meanwhile (elsewhere in Caenyr...) elections in Talanon have concluded for the Governorship of the land. A former decorated Guard Captain, Calvin DeLaRey, unexpectedly became the front runner and sweeping the board in the elections has taken on the role of Governor of Talanon.
Some real big Caenyr news that has taken place over the last month is a new evolution of the Caenyr guilds! World of Caenyr has had player guilds as the backbone of its RP since its inception back in 2002. When they started there wasn't much structure to them, just RP concepts, but soon I created a lot of the aspects that we all know and love today and has even carried on into the RP of other PW's. Now I'm taken them to the next level, another Caenyr first, with Guild Specific Abilities (GSA's.) Below is a list of these new abilities for each guild.
Dominus Adunatio Arcanum The most powerful mages in Caenyr
Allowed one Epic spell (any one that the character wants, but only one per character) - 1 use/day on their level 20 guild ring only (Magi Dominus). This is above the current item level restriction of 20 for that ring.
Brethren The world's finest sailors
Protected dock or port at every region in Caenyr allowing them to sail to and from the various lands for faster travel (essential a teleport), or sail out at sea for some RP out in the open. Ports accessible only with guild key.
King's Royal Lancers The military defenders of Chail
Get one extra level on each custom guild item (armor/helm typically) for level 20 custom equipment, since they are backed by the resources of their Kingdom and have access to improved material/craftsmen, and can have up to two forts with instant access from their Guild House for defense of their Kingdom.
Legion The military defenders of Genocise
Get one extra level on each custom guild item (armor/helm typically) for level 20 custom equipment, since they are backed by the resources of their Kingdom and have access to improved material/craftsmen, and can have up to two forts with instant access from their Guild House for defense of their Kingdom.
Cobalt Troupe Entertainers extraordinaire
Allowed double the guild house areas, which can be designed for running quests/adventures/performances (essentially making them mini-DM's), and get bulletin boards in each Kingdom that they can post on in-game to announce events, rumors, advertisements and so forth.
Ban Curaidh Protectors of the woodlands
Horn for summoning for each member to call various creatures of the forest to their aid, and treetop forts/bridges that allow them to travel across the Tendril woods safely and secretly.
Black Hand Deadly mercenaries
Allowed a second set of guild armor, identical in properties to their first but can look completely different and have free improved invisibility added to it (1/day - this is above the usual level 20 restriction) so they can go incognito for assassinations, capturing or other mercenary activities.
Midnight Company The land's greatest adventurers
Allowed one additional standard guild item at each level. Item level must be appropriate for that series of guild equipment (no level 20 item for the level 1-5 gear, etc) same as it is for the original standard item.
Torn Shadows Caenyr's most secretive guild
They will have a safe house in every village/city in Etaria, accessible only with TS guild key, and one other special ability that is appropriate for their RP but for the purpose of keeping it an effective ability it will remain secret, known OOC'ly only by the Guild Leaders/DM's and of course the TS themselves.
These new abilities have been well received by the players and are already enhancing roleplay throughout Caenyr. With that I also made some updates to the rules regarding Non-Guilded players and their Trade Guild item policy to help give them some added benefit as well. Tons of player news to update you on! First there were several Player Conventions that took place over the last month. One in Seattle, one in Arkansas and a big one in Chicago. Photos from each can be seen on our Caenyr MySpace page. And the fun isn't stopping any time soon, there is another convention scheduled for December 3rd in Chicago and yours truly (Elvamir) will be there! Should be a blast! Happy October, ghouls and ghosts of Caenyr. Halloween is just around the corner, as is obvious from the many costumed portraits the players on the forums are now using (if you don't have one yet, jump in the fun! There's a spam thread about it) but that inevitable dark day isn't stopping anyone from having a great time in Caenyr! A lot to talk about, but first let me say thanks to everyone for the congrats they gave me on moving in to a new house last month, I really appreciate it! But back now, so time to update everyone on things going on.
First some roleplay talk. The big news is the progression of the serverwide quest, where the mysterious book has now unleashed Arynaesis, the fallen Goddess of Chaos, back in to the world and she is quickly spreading her wrath all over Caenyr. There's a massive undead army in Genocise, the Tendril Forest has come alive and is attacking Gwaen, landsharks are eating half of Bastion, fire elementals are consuming Volgard and a plague of insects is besieging Chail. Will the chaos be stopped, and at what cost? Get in game to help decide the outcome!
Lots of player updates to discuss. First I'd like to say hello to the recent additions in the community!

We also need to say farewell to a good friend of ours who has decided to take a break from the online community for awhile to focus on and enjoy some great things going on in his real life. (Who can blame him!) So please join me in saying "see you later" to our good friend, Kall. Not goodbye, because we're pretty sure (and so is he) that one day he'll return. Until then, we wish him all the best.
Also in player news we have to congratulate Gothwick for winning Player of the Month in October, for her outstanding RP and involvement in the current serverwide quest. Then finally, there is yet another Caenyr Player Convention coming up, this one in Chicago, IL on November 7th. If you wish to participate please contact Alex_xr on the forums for more details. Looks like attendance will be awesome!
On the guild front we currently have a competition under way for a new Guild Leader of the Legion. Details can be found in Elv's Announcement Forum for anyone that is interested in submitting an entry. Good luck!
Then finally you'll notice a new Screenshot of the Month here on the homepage. Once again, thanks to Animayhem for submitting some great in-game shots!
